Care beyond the chair: The Sadiq Trust

The Sadiq Trust was founded by Dr Sadiq in October 2023 as a UK-registered charity with a clear purpose: to extend the principles that guide Orchard Orthodontics beyond clinical care.

At Orchard, we believe responsibility does not end at the surgery door. The Trust reflects that belief - supporting vulnerable communities, improving access to specialist education, and helping shift perceptions around disability in regions where meaningful support is often limited.

Care beyond the chair: The Sadiq Trust

Why The Sadiq Trust was founded

The Trust was created in response to a need that goes beyond dentistry. In several regions, particularly in West Africa, children with disabilities and special educational needs face limited access to structured education, facilities, and long-term support.

Rather than offering short-term donations, The Sadiq Trust focuses on building sustainable infrastructure - creating environments where children can access education, receive appropriate support, and develop with dignity.

This long-term approach mirrors the philosophy at Orchard: thoughtful planning, structured systems, and care delivered properly.

Why The Sadiq Trust was founded

Education & specialist support

One of the Trust’s key initiatives is the development of a specialist school in The Gambia, designed to support children with additional needs.

The focus is not simply access, but quality:

  • Purpose-built learning environments
  • Structured educational programmes
  • Support for children with disabilities
  • Long-term sustainability rather than temporary relief

The goal is to create a model that can be developed and expanded responsibly - ensuring that impact is measured and meaningful.

Where the Trust operates

The Sadiq Trust operates across five countries and two continents, supporting communities where access to education and disability services is limited.

While much of the focus remains in West Africa, the wider mission is consistent: improve access, strengthen infrastructure, and provide opportunities where they are lacking.

Growth is intentional and measured - ensuring each initiative is properly supported before expanding further.

The link to Orchard Orthodontics

The Sadiq Trust is not separate from Orchard Orthodontics. It is rooted in the same philosophy.

As Orchard grows, so too does its ability to support the work of the Trust. The relationship is simple:

  • The practice helps fund the charity
  • Growth supports greater long-term impact
  • The same principles of accountability and care apply to both

For Dr Sadiq, this is not a commercial extension - it is a personal responsibility.

Care at Orchard is not confined to the clinic.

Looking ahead

The Sadiq Trust is in its early stages, but its direction is clear.

Future priorities include:

  • Expanding specialist education facilities
  • Raising awareness around disability inclusion
  • Strengthening long-term operational infrastructure
  • Building partnerships that support sustainable growth

The ambition is not scale for scale’s sake - but meaningful, measurable progress.

Responsibility beyond the clinic

Responsibility beyond the clinic

The Sadiq Trust reflects a long-term commitment to responsibility, dignity, and meaningful support. As Orchard Orthodontics continues to grow, so too does its ability to contribute to initiatives that create lasting impact beyond treatment.

Care, when delivered properly, should not stop at the surgery door.
